Agriculture and Sustainability

We are currently exploring the idea of aqua-ponics that could help further boost our crop production in preparation for rainy season in Thailand. Anyone who is interested in the project is more than welcome to join us with your financial resources, relevant contacts or even your expert knowledge.

We have finished installing the 40 x 140 meter greenhouse. We have planted lettuce, string beans, Chinese spinach, carrots, coriander, gourd and pahakanna. This is an ongoing project and there is always gardening and maintenance to be done. Volunteers can raise money to buy additional seeds and tools. We want to build an additional greenhouse to sell these vegetables at the local markets for income generation to help supplement our expenditure. We have a project proposal and are seeking funding as the project will cost about 211,000 baht. If you are interested to help raise funds or know of any companies that can assist, please contact us.

Composting and Gardening:

To support our agricultural project, we want to produce our own organic compost in liquid and dry form. We are also planning to build a composting toilet as part of this project. This will be particularly useful in the dry season when there is limited water. We prefer volunteers who have knowledge about composting to take on this project. However, volunteers who have an interest in this are also welcome.

***Volunteer Required***We are seeking volunteers (long-term 6 months plus preferred, short-term also welcome) with farming or agricultural experience, who can preferably work self-supervised, although those with a strong interest can receive some guidance and supervision. Areas of work would include weeding, watering plants. composting, water conservation, irrigation and the greenhouse. Those interested please complete the application form on the ‘Volunteer’ page!

Meditation Centre:

The Meditation Centre will be available for everyone at the home (volunteers, children and workers) who want quiet time and a space for mediation. This project needs hardworking, fearless volunteers who aren’t afraid of jungle vegetation and getting dirty. To start, volunteers can clear the area and dig the pond. Later on, they can help with construction of the building. A volunteer with landscaping experience would be useful for this project. Workers have started to build the foundation and structure of the building.

Wellness Centre:

We are in the early stages of planning the Neo Wellness Centre to help those in the local area with lifestyle related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and anemia. Volunteers can assist with fundraising for the first stage and construction of the foundation and walls. We have made a project proposal – if any volunteers have any ideas where we can submit this proposal please let us know. As part of this project, we have started work on our already established clinic. We have extended it to add a kitchen and a treatment room so we can promote about the wellness centre and start treatments for those in the local community.

Homes for Parthip and Apuar:

We are planning to build small homes attached to our library for our senior residents, Parthip and Apuar. We have a project proposal and are seeking funds to begin building. Volunteers can help to raise funds and construct the homes once building commences.

Community Projects

Vaccination Program:

Volunteers who have knowledge about how to administer vaccinations (nurses, pharmacists, doctors etc.) can assist with our vaccination program at the Thai-Burma border. Visit the ‘Community Projects and Services’  page for more information. This project runs from November to April.

Eye Care Program:

Please visit the ‘Community Projects and Services’ page for more information.

***Volunteer Required***We are seeking optometrists to assist in our eye care program. We haven’t done this program for more than a year due to lack of volunteers.  Those interested please complete the application form on the ‘Volunteer’ page.
