OCTOBER 2012
WALK FOR EDUCATION: Sangklaburi to Kanchanaburi
On October 2012 Baan Dada is undertaking another Walk For Education from Sangklaburi to Kanchanaburi, a total of 220 kilometers! Embarking on a ‘Walk For Education’, Dada hopes to raise funds to sponsor the tuition of the increasing number of children enrolled in university.
The Recently concluded fund raising walk started last October 14 went well. Though exhausting for everyone, we were able to reach Bangkok just in time as the floods are sweeping the area. This year several children from Baan Dada and volunteers from other countries participated in walk. COME AND JOIN US on OCTOBER 2012.

THE NEW WORKSHOP
A new workshop is currently under construction. The space is meant to provide an area for children both older and younger to learn more about welding, bike maintenance, carpentry, auto mechanics, and much more as they participate in the stream projects perpetually underway here at Baan Dada. The roof is currently being installed on this hands-on work shop, with cementing on schedule for the beginning of May. Though the generous donations of time and money, three big Belgians (Pol, Martes, and Mactolt), and Curtis Brown from England were able to cover the construction fees, but funds are still needed to purchase tools and supplies to fill the space.
WORM BIN COMPOST PROJECT
We have begun to cultivate worms in order to create a sustainable source of rich compost. Kitchen and yard waste is being transformed as we speak. This will be used by the home for our own farming projects, as well as sold as source of funding for the children’s education.
FARMING AND SELF-SUSTAINABILITY: New Crops
At Baandada we are constantly looking for ways to be more self sustainable. Our farming project is always growing and evolving to suit th changing needs of our home. Most recently we have begun planting potatoes and cassava root, and have begun harvesting our chillies and spinach. We have also begun construction of a bee box to bottle and sell honey. As always we have special need for volunteers with agricultural experience to lend us their knowledge.
