Children’s Home
Baan Dada provides a loving home, education, and a healthy diet for over 60 children in need, ages 2-19yrs. The majority of our children are from the Karen ethnic group, who are not considered full Thai citizens. This group lack educational and job opportunities, and basic health care in their communities. They are learning skills which some are already using to help themselves out of their plight and become independent, aside from attending normal school. Some of these activities are:
Painting and drawing
Arts and crafts
Sewing and weaving
Mechanical and electrical skills
Languages -Thai -Karen - English
Music
Cooking
I.T.
Traditional Thai Massage
Anyone interested in teaching a skill to the children is most welcome to come and volunteer their time. You can also help by sending educational litrature or funding for one of these or any other useful skills.

- School uniforms: yearly costs per child - 2,000 baht (appx. $62 USD); in total for the home - 100,000 baht (about 50 children enrolled in school)
- School fees: - yearly costs per child 3000 baht - in total for the home 150,000 baht
- School books and stationary: yearly costs per child 425 baht - in total for the home - 13,500 baht
- Transportation costs - 42,500 baht
- Field trips - twice a year - 165,000 baht
- Funding for tutors wages - 75,000 baht
- Music school - 90,000 baht
- Sewing classes - 25,000 baht
- Art equipment and classes 35,000 baht
- Computers and internet - 65,000 baht
- Clothes and bedding - 60,000 baht
- Medical and dental costs - 45,000 baht (appx $1,400 USD)
- Funding for girls dorm - 1,090,500 baht (appx. $35,000 USD)
- Roofed playground and equipment - 151,000 baht
