Baan Dada’s Wish List

One thing we are trying to raise funds for now is a 4 wheel drive truck, to reach the remote villages that are part of our vaccination program, as well as the eye care program.  The truck will also be used to transport children to and from school (any one who has been here before knows how crowded our truck can be on the way to school!!)

Some things you can bring or donate money for the home:

  • Computers! We have children going off to college and technical school in the next year, so we are looking for 3 laptops (used is okay!) to send with them.
  • Two desktop computers for the children to learn computer skills on
  • 10 sets of emergency lighting- for when the power goes out (approximately 3000 Baht each)
  • 2 of universal power supplies
  • School supplies( notebooks, eraser, sharpener)
  • Plastic sleeves (A4) for laminating bookmarks
  • Projector screen
  • Vacuum cleaner (used is fine!) (3,000 - 5,000 baht)
  • Lockers for school supplies (4,500 - 5,000 baht)
  • More blankets and mats for the children (100 - 300 baht each)
  • Funding for rubber trees before the rainy season: we need 300 trees at 25 baht each tree =  7,500 baht
  • A Mini-DV Camcorder to film activities and projects

Vaccination Program Wish list:

  • Funding - is essential to cover the costs of purchasing medical supplies, transportation and training local staff. Total estimated cost for the program to run one year, starting January 2010 is  1.312,500 THB.
  • Cost of vaccines, according to a quote we received from HI-GRIMM International - 1. Hep.-b only is 540 THB per child (targetting 1,825 children)

                                2. All vaccines( 5 strains) is 798 THB per child (targetting 50 new born children)

  • Paracetamol 325mg tablets- 5 plastic bottles
  • Cotton Rolls                   - 20 rolls
  • Examination gloves medium - 10 boxes
  • Alcohol 70% 450mL bottles     -  24 bottles

A third story for the Home!

Thanks to the help of many volunteers, the second floor of the boys house is completed! We are still planning on constructing a third floor though, and fund raising for construction around the home is ongoing.

We need around 350,000.- thai bhat to finish the 3rd floor of the home.

Girls House:

We are also fund raising to build a new house for the girls and home mother staff; construction is already underway.  At the moment they are living in the building that is meant to be the library, so it is important that we start construction as soon as possible.  Total cost for the girls house is 1,112,827.80 Baht.  If anyone wants to sponsor a square metre of the building, one square metre costs about 6,200.00 Baht. The building will be 180 square metres.
